This qualification provides learners with the knowledge and skills to be able to educate and train individuals and/or groups in a specific occupational area.
DEVELOP KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE FOLLOWING
- The knowledge and skills required to enter the education sector.
- The roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training.
- How to deliver education and training to individuals and/or groups in an environment/subject, in which they are technically competent.
- How to understand and support the process of assessment.
The qualification has been designed for:
- Individuals aged 19 +.
- Individuals considering a career in education and training.
- Individuals who already have a role within education and training, who do not already hold an equivalent/ higher teaching qualification.
- Individuals who are already working as an assessor who wish to achieve a qualification that provides an introduction to teaching.
This qualification provides learners with the knowledge and skills required to teach in the further education sector.
QUALIFICATION STRUCTURE
The learner must complete the mandatory unit listed below plus six credits from optional group B and three credits from optional group C.
Mandatory unit:
• Unit 1: Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training.

ASSESSMENT
This qualification is assessed by:
- Coursework.
- Portfolio of evidence.
- Practical demonstration/assignment.
